Here are two independent women who’ve thrown their hands up!
We’re really pleased to be able to start announcing our candidates standing for Ideal Bradford in May’s local election. And we’re especially pleased to be launching our first two fiercely independent women candidates on International Women’s Day. We #choosetochallenge - an apt theme for #IWD this year that our candidates can definitely identify with.
Alex Kay, who’s been an absolute force of a councillor on the town council for the last four years. She’s been mayor, has led on many successful projects including the solar panels on St Margaret’s Hall, public drinking water stations, purchasing Becky Addy Woods and our Climate Emergency declaration.
Alex is a professional geologist in the energy and environment sector. She is standing for election in North Ward.
Hayley Stevens, a fantastic addition to our team, works for a manufacturer in Bradford on Avon supplying goods to household names. On top of her day-job, she lectures and blogs, and also runs one of the town’s better known social media forums. She’s worked at the Wiltshire Music Centre and knows first-hand exactly what can be achieved when the community works together – for example on community opera or at the Bradford Roots Festival! Hayley will be a strong voice seeking to address air quality and pollution, protecting and improving access to green spaces and working to support those in need. Hayley is standing for election in South Ward.
We’ll be announcing more candidates on the run-up to the election, and watch this space for details of an online gathering where you can get to our candidates in person.
Alex and Hayley - your friends, your neighbours, and your vote on May 6th.
