Simon’s career as a British diplomat and businessman has afforded him a wealth of experience in complex, multi-lateral negotiations, and in working out effective strategies amid competing points of view. An award-winning social entrepreneur, he has set up and run voluntary organisations from local community groups to national charities. He has always relished the nitty-gritty of fundraising, such as doing the Bath Half marathon, long distance cycle rides and even setting a world record for crawling.
Having moved to Bradford four years ago, Simon decided to run as an independent candidate for the Town Council at the same time as shifting his work life to focus on his historical research and writing. He was delighted to learn that others in the town shared his vision of a modern, effective Town Council, free from party politics, and he became an early member of Ideal Bradford.
“We’re lucky to live in a town that’s steeped in cultural heritage and natural beauty, and that has such a thriving community.”
